— 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern: Moby-Dick; or, The Whale (ongoing). We are currently on Chapter 27, "Knights and Squires." I gotta tell you guys, this book is kind of gay.

Tuesday September 8:

— 6:10 PM Pacific/9:10 PM Eastern: Group script-reading time slot. Current project is The Importance of Being Earnest; roles are first-come-first-served.

Wednesday September 9:

 — 6 PM Pacific/9 PM Eastern: Percy Jackson hour (ongoing).

Thursday September 10:

— 5:30 PM Pacific/8:30 PM Eastern: Pride & Prejudice hour (ongoing).

— 6:30 PM Pacific/9:30 PM Eastern: Short stories and kids’ books night. This has been on hiatus due to low availability in the old time slot, but I hope to revive it on Thursdays. Signups are open for anyone who wants to read something.

So my friend belongs to a Maze Runner-based Discord, but I don't quite "get it" myself. I am old, yo. Is this just basically going to the Discord 'channel' and listening to someone read the book, for example, on Percy Jackson night or Moby Dick night? Do you then discuss it by chat?

Good question, I keep forgetting how confusing Discord is when you get started! In the Sub-Etha Radio server we use the channels differently than most -- the read-alouds are essentially a social activity taking place in the voice channels, and we basically only use the text channels for planning and some stray chat. It got started in an IT discord I belonged to earlier, where we decided to do a reading of Macbeth in April or May to alleviate our crushing isolation. That was successful enough that I set up a separate discord for more play readings, which has expanded as people brought their own ideas for what they'd like to do.
