Snowspeeder Leia
Feb. 8th, 2016 06:13 pmI was a little unsatisfied with the Leia options in the current line of Star Wars Legos -- you can only get General Organa with the Resistance Troop Transporter set, which, I have nowhere to put that thing even if I could justify paying $70 for a frigging box of Legos (although Admiral Ackbar is hilarious with his coffee cup in one hand and blaster in the other), and the only other Leia minifig was a keychain. On the bright side, though, the keychain was Hoth Leia, which is one of her best looks, and there was also a nice little Snowspeeder set.

So here's how you make Snowspeeder Pilot Leia:
1 Princess Leia keychain
1 Snowspeeder
a lit candle and a firm grip

I relieved Keychain Leia of her metal post using the candle method, using some work gloves to get a good grip on both the metal keyring and the plastic figure (then promptly set the hot metal post from the keychain down on a ziploc bag, which it melted slightly). The post came out with a wiggle-wiggle-snap just like in the video. Then I popped her hair off, gave the bits a little time to cool, equipped her with the helmet and blaster from the Snowspeeder pilot, and assembled her a nice little speeder.

Obviously she can also be equipped with an X-Wing or a lightsaber or whatever else one has around.
(I gave Leia's hair to the pilot, which looks a little weird from the front since the pilot's face is painted for a helmet. But from the back it's fine; I guess she can be Toryn Farr or somebody.)

Update: I ordered some more Lego parts so that I could turn that spare flight suit body into Jedi Student Leia:
